CAMBOURNE RESIDENTS FROM VARIOUS NATIONS tried on colourful Sarees and Kurtas at the Festival of Lights, or Diwali, at the Hub last month. Children made Rangoli designs with the sand-colours and enjoyed sparklers. Organiser, Cllr. Bhattacharya said: "Our main goal was to create a homely atmosphere and engage people in various activities." The event was free for all and a delicious homemade Indian meal was served for everyone. Physicist Dr.Ranjan Vasudevan demonstrated and explained ancient Vedic rituals and Cambridge Professor Shumone Ray raised £100 for his slum community kitchen in Kolkata through the NNEd Project in the Festival night.
