Cambourne youngsters present science projects 2017

More than 60 Cambourne and Cambridgeshire children aged 4-14 presented their home-made science projects at Cambourne’s 2nd Science Festival on Saturday 24th June. Cambourne Science Festival was a unique event as the children got an opportunity to plan and make their own experiments to demonstrate.

People from in and around Cambourne looked at the projects, asked questions and interacted with the young scientists. Every participant received a participation certificate along with a prize to acknowledge their ingenuity and to encourage them to continue their passion for science.

Councillor Shrobona Bhattacharya, who organised this event, explained, “A child’s advancement depends on parents, teachers, state policies and also the recognition of child abilities. All our hard work will make more leaders, for the world to be in better hands! Cambourne Science Festival, and demonstration by the little children, is a new concept in this country. I am sure more kids and parents will take part in coming years. My husband, Sujit, and I are STEM Ambassadors and promote science in the country.”

Sujit also launched Cambourne Electronics club on the Science Festival day and children from age of 6-18 years are most welcome to join.

Local MP, Heidi Allen, attended the Science Festival with her husband and took special interest interacting with the participants. Heidi presented the certificates to the participants while councillors Ruth Betson and Dr Ghazala Mehboob Khan helped in giving the prizes.
