CAMBOURNE ELECTRONICS & ROBOTICS CLUB (CERC): Children of CERC attended a workshop at Makespace, Cambridge to explore 3D Printing and Laser Cutting on 19th August. Makespace is a community workplace for making the Engineering projects, sharing skills and running the workshops. It has a wide range of equipment like lathes, laser cutters, 3D printers, equipment for textiles and jewellery making. Cambourne residents Doroteja Maklin and Matic Golob, ambassadors of CERC and CamCareUK presented lectures on the lesser cutting techniques and 3D printer before the practical sessions. Children and their parents spent a creative afternoon printing different 3D logos, coins, robot parts and cars and more. Dr. Sujit Bhattacharya, mentor of the club said, “It’s an opportunity for the children to come and see how realworld technology works. We try to build up confidence through running various STEM projects in Cambourne like the Science festival, Electronics and Robotics Club and the workshops." The new CERC batch will start on 22nd September, contact shrobona@gmail.com for details.
